How do you measure success, what does success means to you?
How I measure success depends on the task, but always starts with whether you put in your best effort. Success means that I, (or we) smashed the challenge and the sense of achievement that follows, whether it be settling a difficult negotiation, baking a cake, finishing a workout, facing a fear - you did it!
What is the best career advice you’ve received and why?
My Mum. The youngest of 10, she exemplified maximizing her opportunities and talent, whilst also balancing her family life. A quiet achiever, among her few firsts were – the first Asian prefect at her local high school in Sydney, the first female head chef teacher at the then only hospitality college in Sydney, the only Asian guest chef to appear in the Australian broadcast of a visiting popular British TV gourmet series of the day. She co-led the committee to introduce dragon boat racing in Sydney, earned her Masters degree in education, and continuously did extensive charity work with the Asian community and an eminent Sydney private hospital. A great Mum and inspiration, she is still witty and remains the epitome of ‘can do’ and ‘do your best’.
