How do you measure success, what does success mean to you?
Success is measured by the self-satisfaction that comes from the realization of a goal that I’ve set to accomplish. To me, success is an encouragement for me to go even further.
How do you keep employees engaged and motivated?
I treat my team members fairly, with respect and offer feedback to them as often as possible. I acknowledge the achievement of the engaged employees by incentive. I encourage the team members to share ideas, offer their input and suggestions on how to do things better, implement their solutions and whenever possible, get them involved to achieve the goal.
What is the best career advice you’ve received and why?
“If you think you can, you can.” This belief has lead me to today’s achievements.
How do you manage work life balance?
No matter how busy I am at work, I insist on making some time for myself to do things I love.
Share a book/person that has most influenced your career or life? And why?
The Tax Head of Arthur Andersen, who turned me from an Operation Manager to a Payroll Outsourcing Servicing Manager, has most influenced my career. Without the opportunity given by her and her trust and confidence in me, I would not have today’s achievements.
When did you join Tricor & Why did you join Tricor?
I joined Tricor in January 2003. I had been working at Arthur Andersen LLP’s Hong Kong SAR office since 1998. In 2002, Arthur Andersen LLP, voluntarily surrendered its licenses to practice as CPA in the USA after being found guilty of criminal charges relating to the firm’s auditing of Enron. Arthur Andersen Hong Kong joined PwC after that and I involuntarily transferred my employment from then. After 6 months, my employment was transferred to Tricor due to the acquisition by Bank of East Asia.
Though my employment was involuntarily transferred, I am so proud to work for Tricor, a company with a cohesive and intelligent group of people.
